Vehicle cost per km calculator

Add a year of costs for one vehicle and see what it costs you per month and per kilometre. Nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere.

A year of costs for one vehicle (GHS)

Your result

Cost per km–
Cost per month–
Total cost per year–
Share of cost that is fuel–

How it works

  1. Add up each cost for the last twelve months. Receipts, workshop invoices and payment records are the best source.
  2. The total is divided by twelve for the monthly cost, and by the kilometres driven for the cost per km.
  3. Leave a box empty if a cost does not apply. Nothing is saved when you close the page.

What to do with the result

  • ✓ Compare vehicles of the same type. A vehicle that costs far more per km than similar ones needs a closer look.
  • ✓ Find the biggest cost. If it is repairs, a maintenance routine helps. If it is fuel, start with a fuel log.
  • ✓ Use the number to decide what to charge, what to keep, and what to replace.

  • ✓ Reports you can share with owners and managers

Questions about this tool

What costs should I include?

Fuel, maintenance and repairs, tyres, insurance, licences and roadworthy, repayments or depreciation, driver pay if you want it included, and anything else such as parking and tolls.

Why use a full year?

Some costs arrive once a year and others every week, so a single month can mislead you.

Is my information saved?

No. The calculation happens in your browser, and nothing is stored or sent to us.

How do I compare many vehicles?

Use our free running cost calculator spreadsheet, which handles 30 vehicles at once and shows which one costs the most per km.
